ObamaCare: The Negative Effects In My Life

So yes, Mitt Romney was right.  My healthcare costs DID go up.  My deductibles DID go up (by x4).   I have never paid this much in healthcare before, ever.  Thank you Obama for lying to the American people over and over again.
I always say to people to back up your statements with proof.  I got a statement from my insurance provider on a particular doctor visit.  They paid $60 while I owe almost $500.  Do you really think that is better?
Also, did I mention that I pay MORE monthly?  AND my deductibles went up by 4 times as much?  And how is it that people think we are better off for this?

  1. Hey man, I just want to preface what I'm about to say with a bit of information... I found this site through a google search about packet collisions. It sounds like you know your stuff when it comes to routing networks and configuring networking hardware.
I think your assumptions about health care generally are a bit misplaced. Furthermore, your assumptions about why so called "obamacare" specifically, are misplaced.
It really sounds to me like either your employer (who is likely a large company who effectively insures their employees via a 3rd party administrator insurance company), or, you are a contractor that owns or works for a small business. The first thing you need to do is find a plan either through your employer, or, if they don't have a plan that fits your medical needs, you need to go to the state exchange and find a plan that does work for you. There will be a plan the does on the exchange for sure... I guarantee it.
You say that, "(you) have never paid so much for health care in your life." Well, hasn't this been the case since you began buying healthcare in your early twenties? Health care costs for the consumer have risen for decades year-on-year, and this was being compounded by the fact that health care companies were spending less and less on healthcare prior to the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Now, at least there is a baseline amount that insurance companies must spend compared to their incoming premiums (whereas before there wasn't... And much worse, in most states insurance companies didn't even have to disclose what portion of premiums actually went to caring for their customers as patients.)
Anyway, I won't go on too long, and will leave you with one thought. Anyone with a iq over 50 predicted that healthcare costs would rise this year (and they will next year too). The fact of the matter is, they are rising significantly less than they were pre-obamacare. Mitt Romney didn't offer any alternatives to obamacare, so, are you really worse off in terms of healthcare coverage that you would have been with a Romney administration? I don't think so...

    1. Thanks for taking the time to comment. This site is certainly dedicated to my work life, although my personal life also bleeds into this blog as well. So thank you for taking the time to read my blog.
I'm not really going to comment on the political side of this. I have found it simply simpler to just not talk politics anymore, wether I agree or disagree with someone. My life is better off that way.
Now, as for my insurance discussion, I appreciate your comments. I do hope your situation is better, although I know nothing of your situation. However, mine is not better. I keep track of my money, both incoming and outgoing. I have used my insurance in the past, and I can tell you exactly when that x4 change came (although I reserve the right not to). I can also tell you what insurance used to do for me and my family, and that in reality, my insurance now is really only good for getting me in the door at the doctor office now. After that, I know that I am stuck with the bill. I know that because it has happened to me and my family. I'm not really one of those that just says things without backing it up.
Now you are right about some of what you say (as it applies to my life). You actually can get cheaper insurance through the exchange, and even a better plan. Although I did not vote for this, it is a reality that I recognize. However, if your employer either can not or will not, pay the half of the cost of it (like they do now for the insurance I do have), then I guess it's not really cheaper for me, is it? In fact, it's twice the amount, according to my calculations. No matter whose fault it is, we can call that an 'unintended consequence', if you will.
Either way, we come to a place where we have to agree to disagree. I mean, I know that in reality, most people don't actually look at the facts of a matter. They tend to look at the party who implemented the change, instead of the actual change itself. Then they make a decision of if they are for it or against it.
With that said, I hope and pray nothing but good for you Posi. We may vote differently, but I'm Thankful that we both have the right to do so. We may be on different sides of the political isle, for whatever reasons, but in reality, we are both part of the HUMAN race, which SHOULD bring us together. May God bless you and keep you. May He shine His face upon you, and bring you peace.
