Brocade makes good stuff for their pricepoint, but the way they do some things is.... odd.
ReplyDeleteLike the 6450, to get gigabit on the 1/2/x ports. You have to make them speed-duplex 1000-full-master to get them out of an 'err-disable' state. 1000-full-slave does not seem to be an option. So what happens when you connect two 6450s together with both being master? Apparently, it works just fine which seems counter-intuitive, but there you go.
Another oddity, to me at least, is the ICX6610. It's an FCX, what marketing guy decided to make it an ICX? It's stack ports are 1/2/x and on the back just like FCX switches and it even uses FCX software.
Still though, they're a good value overall.
