Ok, for a lot of you, this is no big deal. But in Alabama, it is a big deal. We are not used to snow and ice down here. We are facing below freezing temperatures for the next upcoming days (not as big of a deal), but this came today (in the pictures below) and has caused all kinds of havoc. I chose to walk 4 miles to get home today because the traffic was so slow. And, people in Alabama do not know how to drive in this stuff. Walking was safer. The first picture is how I started my trip home. It took me an hour to get to this point from my office, which is less than a mile from where Im sitting in this picture.
Many people chose to abandon their vehicles and walk. I did just that. This is in Pelham, the town where I live. Im four miles from home at this point.
Still walking, I left the traffic behind. Literally, I was faster than the traffic. I made the right decision.
Finally home. Walking was definitely the way to go. Great to be outside and what a great walk.
I was very fortunate. There are a lot of people out tonight that are not as fortunate as I was. Lets keep them and their families in our prayers.
