Which Comes First, The Chicken Or The Egg?
What I meant to say was, what comes first in a router when a packet hits, PBR or the routing table? So think of it this way: If you want to manipulate traffic, like setting the next hop, can the routing table come first? The answer is no, since it will take PBR to make the change BEFORE decision is made to look at the routing table. Just FYI. That will be the case no matter what vendor equipment you are configuring. Check Point, Cisco, Brocade, Palo Alto etc. Its all the same on this one.
